Serving our Community

Mount Olive is actively engaged in a wide variety of service ministries as we seek to care for the poor and vulnerable.  Mount Olive hosts the Tri-Vally Migrant Head Start program from June – November each year, services as a host congregation for the Interfaith Hospitality Networks (IHNS) program, Habitat for Humanity each month, serving at Channel One, Dorothy Day House, Crisis Nursery and Salvation Army.

In addition, Mount Olive has a rich history of ministry through Lutheran World Relief, making and shipping quilts, receiving blankets, school and health kits.  Mount Olive is also a leader in giving to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal.  Members have been involved with disaster response, the United Way, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and many other outreach ministries.

On February 4 after the 5 pm service and after each service on February 5, circle members will serve cookies and beverages and accept a free-will offering for this cause. Checks can be made out to Mount Olive WELCA with the nota-tion “Project Comfort” on the memo line.
