Katharine Laymon
FISH Coordinator
|
As the FISH Coordinator it is my job to work with an enthusiastic group of kids that range in age from 6 – 11. Our sole purpose is service projects. FISH is an acronym for Fun In Serving Him; Him, of course, being the Father, Son and Holy Spirit – take your pick – or pick all three! We have had a lot of fun as a group doing such projects as baking cookies and brownies for the Ronald McDonald House, putting health kits together for Lutheran World Relief, making scarves for the Mitten Tree, sending health kits and prayer beads to the victims of hurricane Katrina and the list goes on and on. We have a few things that we “always” do: make fleece baby blankets to hand out to the newly baptized children at Mt. Olive, sing at Maple Manor once a quarter and when Channel One is up and running we also go there once a quarter. The kids love doing service projects and enjoy helping others so much! It is my honor and privilege to be part of such a great group!
