Education - Children

Sunday School is the second of the Christian, educational foundations for 3 year old - 5th grade children. The first is weekly worship, that leads to Sunday School. Sunday School classes are offering during the school year, September - May. Sunday School classes meet between the Sunday morning woship services at 9:15 a.m. Led by Mount Olive's Growing in Faith staff person, Stephanie Pasch, and a remarkable core of teachers, superintendents, music people and support folks, the kids receive a top notch education. Enrollment is always open, children can join Sunday School at any time after they turn 3 years of age. Nursery is provided for infants through 2 year olds during the education hour, as well. To register for Sunday School, contact Stephanie Pasch at the Church office, 288-1580.

Minnows Baptismal Ministry

"Minnows" is a term used from baptism through 3 years old, until children are ready to become "FISH". Parents are invited to fulfill their promises to their child with Mount Olive's help:

  • Minnows Minute Newsletter: This quarterly newsletter updates young families on church events, recent baptisms, and information they need to know.
  • Baptismal Class: Pastors lead a class once a month for parents, godparents, and shepherds to prepare for baptism.
  • Baptismal Milestone: In those first three years, parents are invited to return for a baptismal reunion in January. Over a light lunch, the pastor meets with parents to support them in conversation about their baptismal promises.
  • Shepherds: Shepherds are assigned to each baptismal family as an extension of the congregation. For one year the Shepherd will pray for the family and welcome them more fully into the life of the church.

FISH (for grades 1-5)

FISH is the elementary school Wednesday night service group that meets during the confirmation quarters. FISH is an acronym that stands for "Fun In Serving Him." In the fall of 2009 and 2010, the FISH group prepared and donated a Christmas trees for the Festival of Trees. Other projects include working for Channel One, Ronald McDonald House and Crisis Nursery and putting on a puppet show for their peers. F.I.S.H. Kids tie blankets that are presented to all baptized children of Mount Olive. Connie McCullough is the contact person for the F.I.S.H. Group.
