  • January 22 -"Workplace Values: When your personal values don't match the Corporate values" What do you do when you are asked to act or behave in a way that is in the best interest of the corporation, but goes against your values as a person of faith?

Phyllis Tickle reframes our understanding of the current "birth pangs" of the church. Looking back over the course of history she makes the case that every 500 years the church refines itself and it is not without pain. She gives us the perspective to see how the church is working to emerge into something new in our time.

This modern translation of the first 8 books in Saint Augustine's "Confessions" chronicles the brilliant man's life from birth to the moment of conversion at the age of 33. Reading this book will convince you of his place in history and remind you that some Saints were once the worst sinners of all.

Richard Rohr is a favorite to read! In this book he offers a new paradigm for understanding one of the most profound of life's mysteries: how our failings can be the foundation for our ongoing spiritual growth.

The Power of Now: A Guide to Spritual Enlightenment
To make the journey into the Now we will need to leave our analytical mind and its false created self, the ego, behind. From the very first page of this extraordinary book, we move rapidly into a significantly higher altitude where we breathe a lighter air. We become connected to the indestructible essence of our Being, "The eternal, ever present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death." Although the journey is challenging, Eckhart Tolle uses simple language and an easy question and answer format to guide us. A word of mouth phenomenon since its first publication, The Power of Now is one of those rare books with the power to create an experience in readers, one that can radically change their lives for the better.

Adult Small Groups

A number of small groups meet during the program year, as well. Two book groups meet, one reads fiction and meetings either the second Monday in the afternoon at 1:00 p.m. or that night at 6:30 p.m. The second is called the Faith Seeking Understanding book group and tends to read non-fiction works on the growing edge of faith and spirituality. Faith formation small groups meet on Wednesday nights, as well as for specific seasons in the Church year.
